DEBRA L. FISCHER GIBBON

SAFETY MANAGEMENT AWARD

This award is presented annually to the occupational health nurse who receives the highest score on the previous year’s American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN) Safety Management (SM) certification exam.

This award has been established to honor Debra Lynn Fischer Gibbon, a former Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP), who lost her life on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001.  A senior vice president for AON Risk Services, Ms. Gibbon coordinated services for the company’s top clients.   “She was one of those people who would walk into a room and people would listen to what she had to say.  She inspired confidence, even in strangers.” Ms. Gibbon worked for 17 years in the area of occupational health and safety.
